Pastoral Letter - Jun 18 - Aug 18

I can hardly believe that as you get this magazine we will be almost at the beginning of June ... the last few months seem to have "flown by". As I was thinking about this I also realised that not only the months, but the weeks and days also seem to have disappeared. I don't know about you, but I often find that I am waiting for, or planning for a particular event and in that busyness it's easy to forget that each day is special in its own right.

I have a cartoon postcard with a picture of a cat happily playing with a ball of string and the caption reads "Enjoy this day ... It's a gift from God!". Sometimes our days do get so filled with tasks and appointments, with unexpected happenings. There are days when we hear sad news, but also days where our spirits are lifted by good news. Sometimes simply because the sun shines - as we've enjoyed recently - we find ourselves marvelling at and enjoying the colour, pattern and intricacy of God's beautiful creation. The cat in my postcard seems to just be allowing itself to enjoy and have fun with the simple things of life; a reminder for us all.

Each new day is a gift from God and we acknowledge that there will have been and will continue to be "hard days" for all of us, but as we wake each morning and give the day over to God we will find that he walks with us on our varied journeys. He will help us to enjoy the ordinary days, sustain us in the difficult days and remember the special days.

"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" - Psalm 118:24
