Gainsborough Methodist Church
Minister: Rev. Louise Carr
Refurbished in 2006 Gainsborough Methodist Church (GMC) is a growing church in 'fit for purpose' premises. For Groups or Individuals wishing to utilise our premises please note that all bookings must be made through the Bookings Officer - Sylvia Cammack ☏ 01427 238840 - Terms of hire may be viewed HERE.
Overall we pride ourselves in being an inclusive community, building faith and catering to all ages. We attempt to ensure that our worship is informative and inspirational, yet also warm and comfortable.
At the heart of our community are a wonderfully diverse group of individuals, called together to serve God and one another, in any way that they are able. There are a number of ways to connect with and get to know fellow church members alongside the regular Sunday morning worship setting. These range from joining small weekday Prayer and Music Groups, through to attending weekly 10:00AM Saturday Coffee Mornings, and Monthly Social Occasions.
Check out the Gainsborough Methodist Church Events page for full details of the regular Groups and Social Occasions.
In addition at GMC the following regular youth activities are available:
- Fridays - Girls' Brigade - from 6:30PM Explorers and Juniors, from 7:00PM Seniors and Brigaders (contact Nicola Golland ☏ 01427 810305)
We are now introducing a reflective mid-week communion service as a monthly event. This will be on the last Tuesday of the Month at 10AM.

Prayers for COP26 - the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties
The UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31st October – 12th November 2021. Leading up to that event Deacon Cedric May is writing a series of prayers, one for each day of the month throughout October. The theme is "Prayers for the Planet and COP26".
Each week's prayers will be found as a part of our Pause for Thought Area. Please take a look if you wish.
District Vision Day
The District Vision Day in support of young people will be held on Sat 13th November 2021 @ St. Giles Methodist Church, Lincoln between 9:30AM and 4:00PM. It is an exciting and comprehensive programme and we hope that every church can be represented – even if children and young people are not present in the congregation much can still be done.
Help for Afghan Crisis and Refugees
We have been asked to look at what we might do to support Afghan Refugees arriving in this country. Rev. Louise has spoken to West Lindsey District Council who have as yet made no plans to receive any refugees. However the Government’s warm welcome programme which was announced on 18th August 2021 has not been opened nor have details been given to local councils. West Lindsey will hold a meeting after these are announced to decide on their pledge. They did not take any Syrian Refugees on a similar programme (data from an internet document of all Lincolnshire Councils).
If you have a strong opinion on this I would suggest writing to the Leader of the council, Cllr. Owen Bierley whose contact details can be found HERE.
Increase in Scams
There seem to be a number of scams using Christian terms at the moment. Please be very careful. Never reply to such a text or email. Rather contact the person by a different means to check. Your Ministers will not ask you to purchase gift cards on their behalf by email or text. Please let us know if you receive such an email or text so we can pass the information on to Action Fraud and the Police.
Mothers in Israel
On Tuesday mornings at 10:00AM Rev. Louise Carr will be running a study group looking at Mothers in Israel, a recent book which explores the influential women in early Methodism. Anyone is welcome to join us, just ask Rev. Louise for the Zoom code. The author is going to give us a talk on Zoom one Thursday afternoon.
